Blessing Box Offerings Touches Lives

A big congratulations to the Virginia Disciple Women for contributing to this year’s blessing box fund. Our current blessing box total is $11,829.40! A total of $1,143.00 was sent directly to Indianapolis, and the remaining $10,686.40 will be sent to Indianapolis the week of August 24th.

The Disciple Women blessing box offerings have become an important spiritual discipline for many. The offerings are used for not only Disciple Women’s ministries, but helps to fund other ministries in Disciples Home Missions. Your blessing can then become a blessing to another.

Way to go Virginia Disciple Women! If you haven’t started this important spiritual discipline, we encourage you to start today! May God bless you in your giving and sharing of your resources to support valuable ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) today!

We will bless together your 2015-2016 offerings at our next Disciple Women Retreat tentatively scheduled for July 15-17, 2015 at Lynchburg College.

Half of all Blessing Box giving goes to support the mission of the whole church through the Disciples Mission Fund.   But what about the other half that supports Disciples Women’s ministries?  The following will give you an idea of the far reaching effects of
your over-and-above giving and how your blessings in turn bless others:
  • leadership training for regional and constituency representatives;
  • Just Women magazine and other study materials;
  • Wisdom of Women DVD series and study guides;
  • participation and leadership by IDWM officers and ODW staff at
  • women’s retreats around the country;
  • support of New Church Starts in developing women’s ministries;
  • support of ethnic constituency groups in development of womenspecific ministry and leadership education;
  • funding for women’s participation with ecumenical entities such as
  • Bread for the World, Church Women United, UCC/DOC partnership, Faith Trust Institute, and USA World Day of Prayer;
  • development of materials and resources in support of social advocacy at the congregational level; and so much more.
  • In short, the funds become available for the Disciples Women Executive Committee to disperse, as needed, across all areas of women’s ministry.
